Hugh Segal    

Canadian conservative voice, member of the Senate

Hugh Segal is a member of the Senate, as part of the Conservative caucus. He is also a member of the Order of Canada. Mr. Segal has served recently as chair of the Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade, which published the report Overcoming 40 Years of Failure: A New Road Map for Sub-Saharan Africa. This report called for the reform of Canadian aid and for an immediate review of the Canadian International Development Agency, challenging the Conservative Government’s approach.

Mr. Segal also serves as the Chair of the Walter and Duncan Gordon Foundation, which is a grant making body that is dedicated to promoting global citizenship, working with northern Aboriginal communities, and protecting Canadian fresh water resources. Mr. Segal graduated from the University of Ottawa, and received an honorary doctorate from the Royal Military College of Canada.
