Ilan Pappé  

Professor of History at the University of Exeter; Author of "The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine"

Professor Ilan Pappe was born in Haifa, Israel in 1954. He holds a BA in History of the Middle East and International Relations from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and D.Phil from the university of Oxford in Britain. Pappe was a lecturer at Haifa University (1984-2006) and since 2007 he is a professor of history at the University of Exeter, Britain. At that period he founded the Institute for Peace at Givat Haviva Israel and chaired the Emil Touma Institute for Palestinian Studies in Haifa, Israel.

Pappe is the Director and Founder of the European Center for Palestine Studies and a senior fellow at the University's Institute for Arab and Islamic Studies.

Pappe published to date 22 books. Among his known books are "The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine" (2007); "On Palestine" (with Noam Chomsky); "The Modern Middle East;" "The Biggest Prison on Earth," which won the Palestine Book award; and his latest book "The Ten Myths of Israel."
