J. Alexander

Reality Television Personality, Runway Coach & Author

Miss J Alexander, also known as Miss J, is a reality television personality, runway coach, and consultant best known for his work on "America's Next Top Model." Born in the Bronx, Miss J originally trained to become an accountant. However, a chance encounter at sixteen - while dressed in drag - with the impressed President of Elite Model Management led him to the fashion industry, where he has been active since 1979.

Alexander's career as a backstage runway coach took off after meeting fresh model Tyra Banks and giving her walking lessons. This eventually led him to coach such supermodels as Naomi Campbell and Kimora Lee. He has also worked with renowned designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Hervé Léger, Valentino, and Chanel. Banks coined his title Queen of the Catwalk, a testament to his expertise and influence in fashion runway coaching.

He has appeared on every cycle of "America's Next Top Model" as the runway coach, later transitioning into a judge role on both the American and international versions of the show. In 2009, he stepped further into the spotlight, appearing on "Fall TV Fun: Top Model" and "Glee" as well as revealing that he is a father. Moreover, Alexander's impressive work earned him the Choice Fab-u-lous award at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards.

In 2010, Alexander wrote "Follow the Model: Miss J's Guide to Unleashing Presence, Poise, and Power," which shares his life story, his experiences working with top models and designers, and offers tips on how to be more confident. Alexander, who is openly gay, continues to play an active role in his son Boris' life and currently resides in Paris.
