J. Nadine Gracia    

President & CEO of Trust for America’s Health

As President and CEO of Trust for America's Health (TFAH), J. Nadine Gracia leads the nonprofit, nonpartisan public health policy, research, and advocacy organization. She assumed the role following her tenure as TFAH's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Her extensive leadership experience spans across the federal government, the nonprofit sector, academia, and professional associations, giving her a comprehensive understanding of the varied aspects and challenges of public health. Gracia's commitment to the role of health equity is evident in her career trajectory and the initiatives she has championed.

Prior to joining TFAH, Gracia served in the Obama Administration as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Minority Health and Director of the Office of Minority Health at the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). There she led departmental policies and programs to end health disparities and advance health equity and provided executive leadership on administration priorities including the Affordable Care Act and My Brother’s Keeper.

Previously, Gracia was Chief Medical Officer in the HHS Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health managing several key portfolios including adolescent health, emergency preparedness, environmental health and climate change, and global health. Her work with the White House Council on Women and Girls and her appointment as a White House Fellow at HHS further underscored her commitment to health equity. In this capacity, Gracia was involved in the development of the Let's Move! initiative to solve childhood obesity. Gracia is active in the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
