Jack P. Flaherty
Culture Leader & Founder of The Decision Switch and Author of "The Decision Switch: 7 Principles of Successful Decision-Making"
Jack P. Flaherty is the CEO and Founder of The Decision Switch and the author of "The Decision Switch: 7 Principles of Successful Decision-Making". A former executive officer, strategic advisor, and Big 4 risk management consultant, for over two decades he has consulted with many of America’s largest corporations. In doing so, he’s had the opportunity to oversee hundreds of organizational assessments and conduct thousands of executive interviews and found decision-making to be one of the most critical risks individuals and organizations face on a daily basis.
Based upon his experience and extensive research, he observed many of today’s leaders struggle to make important decisions, as they were never given the requisite training or mentoring. This reality has been exacerbated by the speed at which business is conducted today, our adoption of hybrid and remote working arrangements, as well as the widespread utilization of real-time communication and collaboration technology platforms.
Recognizing decision-making as one of the most integral executive functions contributing to an individual’s and organization’s success, he has become an impassioned advocate. A proven framework that educates and transforms individuals into decisive leaders, able to make decisions confidently at the speed their role requires.
Leveraging his experience and the framework he developed, Flaherty has become a leadership development activist, frequently speaking and consulting on The Decision Switch–a transformative methodology that serves to educate organizations and their leaders on the fundamental process required to make confident and productive decisions. As a result, decision-making and consistently achieving positive outcomes become core competencies and market differentiators for individuals and organizations.

Leadership Development, Business Optimization, and Peak Performance: MASTERING THE DECISION SWITCH: Stop hoping and start knowing you made the right decision
THE SITUATION:
Every important decision we make has the potential to impact numerous stakeholders, and not just yourself. We must recognize that our decisions are influenced by emotion and instinct, particularly fear and self-preservation. Each is a hardwired human survival response, often causing us to make knee-jerk choices based on self-doubt and how we will be perceived as a result of our actions. Conversely, when these counterproductive responses are kept in check and we allow ourselves to focus on an objective, we are far more likely to make decisions that bring us closer to the outcome we seek to achieve.
In many ways, today’s employees are rewarded for making safe and conservative choices, and not for supporting their personal ambitions or an organization’s ethical, strategic, and growth objectives. Today’s leaders and workforce are at risk of not achieving what’s truly possible, as a result of having an inadequate personal compass or approach to help them navigate the difficult decisions we often face on a daily basis.
