Jackie Kallen is known as one of boxing's first and most successful female managers and is the inspiration behind the film "Against the Ropes". She has faced numerous challenges to succeed in a male-dominated profession.

Originally a journalist, Kallen became a publicist for Thomas Hearns and Detroit's Kronk Boxing Team, and later transitioned into managing boxers. She notably managed James Toney, helping him to become a world champion. Her career achievements include being a two-time nominee for Manager of the Year and earning various accolades for her work in the sport.

Kallen authored "Hit Me With Your Best Shot: A Fight Plan for Dealing with All of Life's Hard Knocks" where she discusses the parallels between boxing strategies and handling life's challenges. Currently, she continues to manage several boxers and remains active in charity work, especially with women's shelters. Living in Los Angeles, Kallen is also a passionate advocate for women's health issues, focusing on the early detection of heart disease and breast cancer, personal challenges she has faced herself.
