Professional Basketball Player for the Philadelphia 76ers

Jahlil Okafor is an NBA player with the Philadelphia 76ers. He played one season of college basketball at Duke, helping them win the national championship in 2015.

Even in high school, Okafor achieved numerous feats and awards. He earned high school national player of the year awards form McDonald's, USA Today and Parade. He also won the Tournament MVP for the gold-medal winning USA team at the 2012 FIBA Under-17 World Championship.

At Duke, Okafor won the USBWA National Freshman of the year, ACC Player of the Year, and a selection for the 2015 NCAA Men's Basketball All-American.

Okafor was the third overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. He helped them end the longest losing streak in the history of major professional sports in the U.S. with a victory over teh Los Angeles Lakers. He was suspended shortly afterward for involvement in off court fights. After his suspension ended, he cam back to help the 76ers beat the Portland Trailblazers, and was named to the 2016 NBA All-Star Game weekend Rising Stars Challenge lineup. He also earned NBA All-Rookie First Team honors.

In 2016, Okafor discovered that he had a small tear of the meniscus in his knee, and played less than usual due to the injury. He was later ruled out of the 2017 season because of his knee problems.
