Japanese-American Ukulele Virtuoso & Composer

Jake Shimabukuro, a composer and ukulele virtuoso hailing from Honolulu, Hawaii, has established a reputation for his distinctive fusion of varied musical elements. Incorporating jazz, blues, funk, rock, bluegrass, classical, folk, and flamenco into his compositions, Shimabukuro's complex finger work sets him apart in his field. This unique approach led to the creation of numerous original compositions, including soundtracks for two Japanese films. His talent for the ukulele caught international attention in 2006 when a video of Shimabukuro performing a intricate rendition of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" went viral on YouTube.

Following the viral success of his performance, Shimabukuro's career soared to new heights. He engaged in numerous concerts, collaborated with eminent musicians, made multiple media appearances, and delved into music production. This period of his career was captured in the 2012 documentary "Jake Shimabukuro: Life on Four Strings". Previously, as a member of the band Pure Heart, Shimabukuro had already tasted success, bagging multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, a testament to his musical prowess.

Shimabukuro has released several solo albums and has extensively toured in Japan. His music is released in Japan by Sony Japan, and in Hawaii by his own label, Hitchhike Records. Recognized for his exceptional ukulele skills.
