James D. Livi

Overcame Depression and Anxiety Disorders

James Livi has worked with homeless men and women, those suffering with addictions and mental health disorders and overcame twelve years of depression and anxiety that took away his employment, joy and capacity to learn!

Livi entered the world of depression in 2000 triggered by a failed business venture. Everything within him went out of control causing him to seek help from those who could bring control back. Hospital experiences were helpful, but not the full answer. In fact, Livi found there are doctors who create more anxiety than heal it.

Depression created a new sense of compassion and a change in vocation for Livi, from the printing industry to human services. Instead of working with machines, he knew he could now work with people and bring wholeness back... through a listening ear, education and spiritual wellness.

At one point in his journey he became a full time chaplain to the homeless in downtown Syracuse, NY in a large organization called The Rescue Mission Alliance. His personal experience enabled him to reach those who didn't think they could trust others or couldn't understand their losses.

Writing, "Pocket Your Anxiety", was a therapeutic work that came about through his struggles and determination to learn about Depression, Anxiety, SAD, Insomnia and Bi-Polar disorders. It has a strikingly simple manner of reaching those facing mental health sufferings and for family members who want to understand more.

Livi is honest, able to reach many age ranges and cross cultural bounds.
