Jay Famiglietti is a hydrologist and a professor of Earth system science at the University of California at Irvine, where he was founding director of the UC Center of Hydrologic Modeling. He is the senior water scientist at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and serves on the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board. Famiglietti uses satellites and computer models to track how freshwater availability is changing, in California and around the globe. A speaker, writer, and fellow of the American Geophysical Union and the Geological Society of America, he has appeared as an expert in the water documentary Last Call at the Oasis and on CBS News’s “60 Minutes.”
