James Oseland      

Former Editor-In-Chief, Saveur and Rodale's Organic Life, Writer, Food Traveler

James Oseland was the editor-in-chief of Saveur from 2005 to 2014. He led the magazine to more than 40 awards, including numerous James Beard journalism awards and three from the American Society of Magazine Editors. He was the founding editor-in-chief of Rodale's Organic Life, which was named hottest launch of 2015 by Adweek.

He is also a five-year veteran of Bravo TV's Top Chef Masters. His 2006 memoir Cradle of Flavor, was named one of the best books of the year by the New York Times and was recognized by the James Beard Foundation and the International Association of Culinary Professionals. His next memoir, Jimmy Neurosis, will be published by Ecco Press in 2017.

James was born in Mountain View, California, on February 9, 1963. He holds degrees in film studies from the San Francisco Art Institute. He has lived in India and Indonesia and now resides in an apartment in New York City, which he shares with his partner, Daniel, and his cat, Sam. His favorite food is char kuey teow, Malaysian stir-fried rice noodles with shrimp and chile paste.
