James Peyer      

Managing Partner at Apollo Ventures

James Peyer is the founder and managing partner of Apollo Ventures, an early stage life science investment fund focused on breakthrough technologies for treating age-related disease. Apollo founds companies with scientists, invests in early-stage therapeutics projects, and contributes time and expertise to all aspects of early-stage biotech companies.

Before Apollo, Peyer worked with McKinsey & Company in New York, where he focused on building new biotech companies and developing cell therapies.His focus was on clinical technologies with novel modes of action and substantial development challenges.

He earned his doctorate in stem cell biology at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, where he was a National Science Foundation GRFP Fellow, and cofounded and ran Genotyp, a biotech education startup which became the first biotech company to be funded through Kickstarter.com Peyer earned his bachelor's degree in immunology with special honors from the University of Chicago.
