With a focus on the transformational power of protest, Janaya Khan is a global advocate who invites profound discussions on social justice and equality.

Known as ‘Future’ within the Black Lives Matter movement, Janaya Khan is a black, queer, gender-nonconforming activist (pronouns: they, them, theirs), who is an Afrofuturist and social-justice educator. They articulate compelling perspectives on police brutality and systemic racism.

Janaya has been recognized for their contributions to social justice with several accolades, including the 2015 Bromley Armstrong Humanitarian Award. They have been featured in media outlets such as the Feminist Wire, RaceBaitR, and The Root. Currently, they serve as the executive director of Gender Justice LA, a grassroots multi-racial coalition of transgender people and allies.

Janaya's presentations emphasize the impact of inequality on individual lives and motivate audiences to pursue justice for everyone. Through their roles, including as an International Ambassador for the #BlackLivesMatter Network, Janaya pushes for meaningful change and empowerment in communities worldwide.
