Jane Chen is the co-founder of Embrace Global which developed a ground-breaking infant incubator. The Embrace incubator costs ~1% of a traditional incubator and has saved over 475,000 babies across 25 countries. Embrace has been featured in global media including the New York Times, CNN, Newsweek, the Guardian and ABC's 20/20.
Chen is a TED speaker and a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum. She has been selected for Forbes' Impact 30, and is a recipient of the Economist Innovation Award and Fast Company Innovation Award. Chen has also been recognized as Social Entrepreneur of the Year by the World Economic Forum.
Chen received her MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, and her Masters in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She is an avid surfer and meditator, and is currently in the process of writing her first book.

In this talk, Chen shows us how brilliant and basic ideas—such as the Embrace Infant Warmer, a life-saving, affordable, and ingenious solution to the lack of expensive incubators in the developing world—can save lives, change communities, and inspire others to follow a lead that disrupts the status quo. She shares some of the strategies that helped her overcome Embrace's biggest challenges, such as remembering the needs of the end user, shedding the biases of traditional business models, and valuing simplicity as a guiding principle. Chen teaches us that sometimes the simplest inventions can have the biggest impact.
