Jane Malyon
Expert in the Etiquette of Business, British Afternoon Tea Authority, Guinness World Record Holder, Author & TEDx speaker
Best selling Amazon Author, Jane Malyon, has been a professional speaker for years and has also written three books. She has become globally valued as an expert on the tradition and etiquette of British Afternoon Tea and set up The English Cream Tea Company in 2011 to deliver hampers and treats relating to the great British tradition of Afternoon Tea. Her TEDx talk was entitled: How Afternoon Tea Could Save The World - and she now takes that concept further into ‘Saving Your Business’ too. It’s not so much about delicious carbohydrates of course, but instead about transferring into the corporate world, the niceties of listening, rapport, sharing and consideration that form the basis of teatime manners. The effect of these transformations relate to staff/client retention, productivity, engagement and creating a happier, nicer corporate culture. One of Jane’s other books is Play Nicely - Best Behaviour in Business and she’s known for troubleshooting negative office communications.
Jane has created a series of etiquette videos, one of which has half a million views. She has given etiquette training in hotels internationally, gained the Guinness World Record for the largest Cream Tea Party ever and became a best selling author with in 2019 with Scone or Scon(e) - the essential guide to British Afternoon Tea. She and her gift/food company have received multiple Business Awards for customer service, their products and Small Business of the Year accolades. Jane has also been a guest at round table discussions with Parliamentary Ministers in Westminster, London and has appeared many times on BBC TV plus being featured on BBC radio, The Sunday Times, The Guardian newspaper and numerous offline and online publications and podcasts.
Jane lives in a countryside Essex village in the UK with her husband - and with any spare time, they love to visit their sons, one of whom travels the world as part of Cirque du Soleil’s team. Jane’s interests have included Kyokushinkai Karate (gaining her Black Belt at the age of 55).
Quintessentially British (and perhaps a touch eccentric), Jane Malyon brings charm and amusement to your event - along with a powerful and impactful message about creating engagement with staff and customers and improving corporate culture. Jane delivers customized keynotes and presentations that promote staff and client engagement and communication. Her talks are utterly unique and described as ‘delightful, entertaining and inspiring’,‘always wonderful, completely uplifts the room’,’easily the best speaker we’ve ever had’, ‘amazing’ and ‘hearing Jane is simply a blessing’.

One Lump or Two? How To Sweeten Any Deal
13th Century law set out to control bakers cheating their customers with undersized bread. The penalties for doing so became extremely draconian and the effect was that bakers were desperate to show they were not swindling - and took to giving 13 rolls when a customer asked for 12 (now known as a Baker’s Dozen). Jane helps the audience to consider ways they can delight and over-deliver to clients - ie, what are their Baker’s Dozen methods for customer retention? This can apply to staff retention too. Every communication counts and Jane will leave you inspired to treasure each person with whom you interconnect.
Time for Tea
Memorable lessons from the teapot, strainer, sugar bowl and more - transferring the etiquette used in Afternoon Tea into the business environment to create a kinder, more productive and engaged workforce.
The Etiquette of Business
With engaged, happier teams, there’s staff retention, increased productivity, fewer sick days and a great atmosphere at work. Jane uses the metaphor of teatime manners to demonstrate easy yet memorable ways to create that ideal corporate culture and working environment.
