Founder of Dermalogica,The International Dermal Institute and FITE

Jane Wurwand is an innovative business visionary and one of the most recognized and respected authorities in professional skin therapy. She is the co-founder and co-owner of Dermalogica and The International Dermal Institute, which are recognized as game-changing brands within the sphere of professional skin care education. Under her leadership, Dermalogica has grown to be the leading professional skin care brand, used by more than 100,000 skin therapists in more than 100 countries around the world.

Wurwand first started Dermalogica in 1986, at the age of 28. She bootstrapped the company with just $14,000.

At the age of 58, she created FOUND/LA, a nonprofit supporting local entrepreneurs which has since helped nearly 17,000 local entrepreneurs access funding, education, and mentorship to build their businesses. Her work supporting entrepreneurs led her to write her first book, "Skin in the Game," in her early sixties.

Since 2010, Wurwand has been a member of the Clinton Global Initiative, and is part of their Women and Girls Action Committee. She serves as a special advisor to the UN Foundation’s Global Entrepreneurs Council, supporting their work with the UN to advance women and girls. Wurwand was appointed by President Obama as a Founding Member of The Presidential Ambassadors for Global Entrepreneurship for FITE (Financial Independence Through Entrepreneurship), a Dermalogica initiative that works to provide small loans to women entrepreneurs in more than 68 countries. Through this social impact initiative, Dermalogica has created vocational training programs and assisted more than 75,000 women in gaining financial independence worldwide. She spoke before the United Nations as the keynote speaker regarding the FITE mission.

Wurwand is a frequent Huffington Post blog contributor where she writes on her passion for women in business and entrepreneurship. She has received many accolades including being named to Forbes' "50 over 50" list; being honored with the Lifetime Achiever Award by CEW; and being made a Fellow of the City and Guilds of London Institute, one of only 500 in the Master Guilds 1,000 year history.
