Jason A. Hunt

Author & Leadership Trainer

Jason Hunt is a dynamic, engaging, and passionate author, speaker, and trainer. During his second year as a principal of a large middle school, Hunt found himself hiding in a portable classroom because he didn't think he could do his "dream job". After realizing that leadership has less to do with process and much to do with people, Hunt turned around the toxic culture of the school in just over 2 years through developing personal influence with his staff.

Hunt's messages focus on helping leaders lead through influence rather than title. Being an introvert himself, he has an interesting viewpoint and many unique tools that can help any leader navigate the complicated world of relationships, resulting in less turn-over, a stronger organizational culture, and more job satisfaction of the leader.

Hunt's first major leadership role was to run a branch of 100 church members in outer Siberia when he was only 19. Since then, he continues to be involved in many leadership positions. Hunt has a master's degree from the University of Minnesota in leadership, is certified by the John Maxwell Leadership Institute, and is the author of The Other Side: 5 Rules for Leading with Influence. Hunt currently lives in Owatonna, Minnesota with his wife and four kids.

Becoming a Person of Influence

We all want to live lives that matter, but just how do we make a positive difference? Some believe that you must have an impressive title to do so, but that is a mistake. The best leaders recognize that no matter where you are in the organization, you have influence - and intentionally using that influence to make a positive difference makes you a leader. This is a highly engaging and powerful session on leadership, breaking this complicated subject down into four simple components: A heart that cares, a head that connects, hands that collaborate, and feet that show courage. Whatever your vocation or aspiration, master these four and watch your influence lead to a greater positive impact in the lives of others — at home, at work, and in every other area of life.

Lead from Where You Stand: How to influence as a middle-level leader

Being a leader in the middle is tough. You often find yourself stuck between a rock and a hard place, trying to please your boss and make your direct reports happy. You have to translate what your senior leader wants into action, you have to work with other departments who may or may not like you, and people can go above your head because the buck doesn't stop with you. It's no wonder that middle-level leaders are one of the most stressed of all worker groups. In this highly engaging and relevant session, you'll learn how to help lift your leader's load, to get noticed for the great work you are doing, and what you can do to lead and empower your direct reports. Surely, this is a difficult job, but with the right tools and strategies, you can learn how to succeed as a middle-level leader, leaving your working day satisfied that you are making a difference.

The 7 Laws of Self-Leadership: Influencing yourself so you can influence others

It's true, the hardest person to lead is "me". For many of us, we tend to put the needs of others first, leaving our personal growth and development up to chance. Just like a sharp ax will cut down more trees, when we intentionally invest in ourselves, we can have a more positive impact on the lives of others. This direct and inviting message encourages you to leave your comfort zone, imagine what is possible within you, and become intentional in your personal growth. Master these 7 Laws and you'll become a master of your mindset, your time, and your learning, thus dramatically increasing your capacity to give to and lead others.
