American Freestyle Skier & Transgender Athlete

Jay Riccomini is an American freestyle skier that currently trains with U.S. Freeski Rookie Slopestyle team. He is an active member of the Park City Ski & Snowboard team, and currently resides in Park City, Utah.

He has made his mark on the international stage, securing a 41st placement in the overall Freestyle World Cup in 2021, and achieving three podium finishes, all in third place. Riccomini continues to train with the U.S. Freeski Rookie Slopestyle team, with an aspiration to qualify for the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.

Originally from Port Matilda, Pennsylvania, Riccomini came out publicly in 2021 as transgender, which gained significant media attention. Since coming out, he has continued to thrive on the slopes, all while continuing to be a role model for trans youth.

Riccomini's commitment to advocacy and visibility for LGBTQ+ athletes and youth culminates in his current documentary project, "Weightless." This film focuses on Riccomini's journey to top surgery and seeks to underscore the importance of gender-affirming care for trans youth. By sharing his personal experiences and challenges, Riccomini underscores his commitment to fostering inclusivity and understanding within and beyond the sporting world.

Off the slopes, Riccomini is an ardent reader and a fishing enthusiast. He also enjoys the company of his four guinea pigs.
