Jay Wright

AP Coach of the Decade; Head Coach of Villanova University Men's Basketball; 2016 NCAA Champions

Over the course of 14 seasons as head coach, Jay Wright has guided Villanova to a period of sustained national success. Since 2004, the Wildcats are 267-106 (.716) and have advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 10 of the last 11 seasons.

The Wildcats have reached new heights during the last two seasons, posting a 62-8 overall record (.886) that produced back-to-back BIG EAST regular season titles along with the 2015 BIG EAST Tournament championship. Villanova climbed as high as No. 4 in the Associated Press poll in 2014-15 and takes a streak of 35 consecutive weeks ranked in the AP Top 25 poll into the 2015-16 campaign. The 33 victories posted in 2014-15 established a new program record, shattering the old mark of 30 set by Wright's 2008-09 edition.

Wright was named BIG EAST Coach of the Year and Philadelphia Big 5 Coach of the Year in each of the last two seasons. He is now a four-time winner of the BIG EAST Coach of the Year award and his 169 career conference victories rank fourth all-time -- only Jim Boeheim, Jim Calhoun, and John Thompson own more

In 2016, Villanova won the NCAA men’s basketball national championship title game against the UNC Tar Heels, Wright's first national championship, and Villanova's first since 1985.
