Jeff Johnson

Adventurer, Director & Photographer

Jeff Johnson is one of the most recognized figures in the world of adventure. Bridging the gap between athlete and artist, Jeff provides a rare perspective while creating rich narratives for brands and products alike. A talented published writer, photographer and director, Jeff is highly regarded in the outdoor community as someone who makes creative choices for all the right reasons.

Jeff’s history is steeped in adventure, surfing and climbing. In the 90’s, Jeff called the beaches of Hawaii’s North Shore home and built a reputation as the ultimate waterman. During this time, he juggled lifeguard and international flight attendant jobs to facilitate his travels around the world and began to share his stories through visual and written means.

In 2004, Jeff joined Patagonia as their first staff photographer—a role he unwittingly created when hired to help create and launch Patagonia Surf. After receiving international attention for his 2010 environmental surf odyssey, 180° South, Jeff evolved into a key influencer of Patagonia’s company culture both in front of and behind the camera.

Outside of Patagonia, Jeff has anchored projects for Urban Outfitters, Black Diamond, YETI, St. Archer Brewing and Electric Sunglasses, among others. His work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Alpinist, Surfer’s Journal, Surfer Magazine, Climbing Magazine and Outside Magazine.

Jeff now resides in Santa Barbara, California where he divides his time between the ocean and the mountains.
