Inventor; Co-Creator & Chairman of the Board of Scrum

Jeff Sutherland is the co-creator of Scrum, a widely-used framework for product management. Sutherland's expertise spans across multiple domains, including his past roles as a fighter pilot and cancer researcher. In addition to this, he has also held the position of CTO or head of engineering in eleven different software companies, ranging from small startups to enterprise-level corporations with numerous developers. In 1993, he successfully launched the first Scrum team, marking the start of the framework's exponential growth into various industries such as finance, healthcare, higher education and telecom.

Today, Sutherland serves as the Founder and Managing Director of Tesla Investment Holdings LLC, which is an investment fund that coinvests with OpenView Venture Partners and CompanyOn Ventures. He is the founder and Chairman of the Board at Scrum Inc. Formerly the CEO, he has since passed that position on to his son, JJ Sutherland. His vision for success with Scrum extends to his contribution to the Agile Manifesto in 2001 and his presentation of Scrum at OOPSLA'95. A testament to his expertise is his maintenance of The Scrum Guide, which offers the official definition of the framework. In earlier years, he developed NewsPage at Individual.com, becoming one of the pioneers of internet news publishing.

Sutherland's dedication to the sphere of agile software development and project management is reflected in his numerous published works. His most recent book is titled "Scrum: The Art of Doing Twice the Work in Half the Time," which is part of a broader collection of his authored books on Scrum and Agile management. These include "Lean Architecture: for Agile Software Development" and "The Laws of Software Process: A New Model for the Production and Management of Software." Frequently appearing as a speaker at events related to agile development and Scrum, Sutherland continues to share the best practices and his deep understanding of the business process with organizations around the globe.'

A graduate of the United States Military Academy, he furthered his academic pursuits by attaining a master's degree in statistics from Stanford University and a doctorate in biometrics from the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
