Jeffrey Israel has taught religion and political philosophy at Northwestern University and Rutgers University and Jewish history at Eugene Lang College of The New School in New York City.

He has a Ph.D. and an M.A. in religious ethics from the University of Chicago. His book, Living with Hate in American Politics and Religion , explores the differences that have divided our nation for centuries. His next book, American Yiddishkayt: The Good, The True, and The Beautiful is in progress.
