Embracing Oneself

Jeff Sanders has embraced and built both his personal and professional life around promoting athletic awareness within our communities which leads to more healthy and productive lifestyles.  Understanding that  has challenged Jeff  to work hard and maintain the positive attitude needed to achieve greatness for himself, his community, his family and impart this belief using real life examples to all that he continues to touch.  This belief was a factor in his accomplishment in becoming a member of one of the most prestigious National Basketball Clubs in the world.

Career Statement – Who is Jeff Sanders?

Jeff Sanders is a former Professional Basketball Player who was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the 1st round (20th overall) of the 1989 NBA Draft.  Sanders played for the Bulls, Charlotte Hornets and Atlanta Hawks in 5 NBA seasons. He played collegiately at Georgia Southern University.  He played professional basketball for 16 yrs in the NBA, European Leagues, and the CBA.  He is recognized in his hometown of Augusta, Georgia by the Richmond County Board of Commissioners by receiving the Outstanding Athletic Achievement Award.  Jeff owns the Georgia Southern school single season record for points scored.  The school honored him by retiring his jersey (#42) which was only the second in school history.   He was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at Georgia Southern where he has broken and set many records from minutes played to points scored.  He has varied experiences in coaching, mentoring as well as student athlete training.

Motivator and Mentor

Jeff is a motivator, who is determined to make not only “ A difference” but make “ The difference.”   He stresses to all (both young and old) that motivation is an inner drive that compels a person to succeed.   He believes that it is never too late to reinvent oneself into excellence.  

His accomplishments off the court are just as impressive supporting many worthwhile causes throughout the country. One of Jeff’s accomplishments as a Mentor and Motivator was being asked to serve as a member of the Advisory Board of AAD (Athletes Against Drugs – Founder, Stedman Graham).  Jeff reflects on both the Mission and Vision of the organization when asked.  “Our mission is -- leveraging national and local athletes, celebrities, and corporate leaders to educate youth to make healthy life decisions.  “Our vision is -- to help youth develop life skills for economic opportunities that will change their lives”.

Being a proud parent, Jeff believes in leading by example.  With his winning attitude, dynamic personality and zest for constant re-invention, everyone has the ability to be a chosen leader.  Jeff captivates his peers with straight talk, vision and wisdom based strategies to master life’s challenges.
