Jehangir Karamat    

Retired as the Chairman Joint Chiefs and Chief of Army Staff Pakistan

General Jehangir Karamat retired as the Chairman Joint Chiefs and Chief of Army Staff Pakistan in October 1998. He is an active participant in Track II dialogues and was a Commissioner on the International Commission on Non-Proliferation and Disarmament from 2009 to 2010.

General Karamat was a visiting fellow at CISAC and Brookings from 1999 to 2000. He is on the Advisory Board of the Institute of Public Policy Beaconhouse National University and is a member of the senate of The National Defense University Islamabad and the Board of Governors of the Islamabad Policy Research Institute.

He is a graduate of the Pakistan Army Command and Staff College, the US Army Command and Staff College and the National Defense College Pakistan. He has a Masters in International Relations from Quaide Azam University Islamabad. He was Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States from 2004-2006.
