He grew up with cerebral palsy in one of the most impoverished areas of Cali, Colombia, and soon realized there were thousands of young people with physical and cognitive disabilities in his community who were in overwhelming need of basic assistance. Jeison was determined to help and push for change. When he was only a teenager, Jeison started a campaign to help disabled people to have access to wheelchairs. He then strived to provide them with physical therapy as well, and so, in his family's empty garage, the foundation was born. Since 2001, the nonprofit ASODISVALLE has provided a range of free services, including special education, medical services, speech, physical and occupational therapy, and healthy meals that have transformed the lives of nearly 3,000 young people with disabilities and their families.
