Jem Welsh, CNS, CPT is a performance nutritionist in Newport Beach, California. Known as “The Shredder” in performance nutrition circles and “The Professor” in fitness circles, Jem designs custom “total body” programs for an upscale clientele including professional clients in the athletic, performance, film and modeling industries. The practice is primarily by referral from agencies or area physicians in the anti-aging/aesthetic medical groups.

He has also served the nutrition and pharmaceutical industries for over 15 years as a conceptual product formulator and research specialist. Jem has produced over 200 nutritional supplements and functional food formulations and food-based delivery systems, including FitGumâ„¢, the first functional fat-burning chewing gum and ProPaxâ„¢, a cellular support formula for use in chemotherapy. Jem is credited with formulating the first non-stimulating cellular fuel formula and original research/formulation for complementary breast cancer formulas for recovery.

More recently, Jem has introduced his own products, CLENZ™, REVZ™ and CUTZ™ -a trio of functional beverage powders for whole body performance food plans. His ability to create innovative products, formulate them and defend their functionality has allowed companies such as Robinson Pharma, Nutritional Therapeutics, BioDelivery™ Food Systems, Childcare Nutritionals™ and Medi-Plex Physician’s Nutrition Network™, as well as contract manufacturing companies, to outsource his intellectual property and regulatory knowledge to translate concepts into millions of dollars in sales.

Jem is also the Nutritional Director/Examiner for the Professional Private Trainers Association, and serves as a member of the Board of Nutritional Examiners. He has been accredited as a CE and CME educator, from the USC School of Pharmacy and UCLA School of Medicine, University of Wisconsin and University of Pennsylvania, instructing over 3000 pharmacists and physicians on topics in natural healing and nutritional applications in medicinal protocol. Jem is published in trade and consumer magazines ranging from “Oncology Care” to “Spa”. He is a regular guest on radio health shows in Los Angeles and New York City and is a tireless advocate for nutritional approaches to complementary medicine. His soon to be published book, entitled Why This Diet Book Won’t Work for You focuses on the subject of personalize health programs and cultural nutrition, two aspects of his specialized clinical counseling practice. Jem is one of those “Walk the Walk” nutritionists that has a personal story attached to his passion. After diagnoses of weak bone matter, Jem began a regimen of strength training and performance foods that led to a life-time commitment to bodybuilding. After a son’s special dietary needs prompted more study, Jem became one of the experts on cultural understanding of brain health and nutrition. His early attention formula, Brain Balance™, incorporated the aspects of cellular energy, intestinal support and protein uptake as an early way to treat ADD/ADHD and autism from the kitchen.

He has developed nutrition products to offset medication problems and gums to aid in weight management. He also enjoys stretching the boundaries of conventional food design, as evidence by his newest product, FitGum™. Jem Trains and Educates Private Trainers-- Jem is a proud member of the Professional Private Trainers Associations (PROPTAâ„¢).
