Speech Topics
General Counsel Coaching
There is increasing pressure on the General Counsel to do more with fewer resources, become an expert in emerging technologies and cybersecurity along with the global policies shaping every industry and to know what your c-suite peers are doing and if it’s enough to protect the company. New priorities are emerging to add value to the corporate strategy, integrate with the crisis communication and response plans while building and maintaining a strong team to manage risk across the organization in a timely manner for the business. Jen understands the unique pressures of the Chief Legal Officer and can serve as a trusted advisor and coach to help you evaluate opportunities to streamline processes to reduce costs, evaluate existing digital exposure, provide expert briefings and training to your team and emerging best practices to help you deliver value to your CEO and board.
Digital Mapping & Strategic Planning
Much like financials are audited, digital disruption should be objectively mapped to ensure your company leaders are working together and there are checks and balances in place. Think about the financial crisis that led to the need to separate accounting and audit functions and the importance of having checks and balances to ensure that one viewpoint does not dominate and expose the company to risk. The same philosophy should apply in the digital and cyber arena. Likewise, the compensation committee hires experts to benchmark how your company is doing against competitors. Why not get the same objective information to understand how you are doing in the age of digital disruption?
Using a proprietary Digital Mapping® Tool, Jen will work with your board to understand how assumptions about future trends and disruptive forces in digital, cybersecurity and societal shifts will impact your business and drive strategic thinking for your board. Key questions are asked to benchmark how stakeholders are impacted by the trends impacting your industry. Consider the impact on your company, your customers, your competitors and your suppliers. How will those changes impact your culture, work force and short and long-term strategy? This mapping exercise becomes a baseline to make important decisions about management, oversight and strategy to ensure you don’t miss important opportunities or threats to your future.
Digital Training & Coaching for Board Members
If your board members are looking for one-on-one or small group coaching on how to carefully manage privacy and be mindful of cybersecurity threats across their personal and professional use of social media, mobile and the internet of things, Jen will tailor coaching to your board member needs. As an attorney, all conversations can be protected by the attorney-client privilege.
Most of us don’t want to admit when we don’t know something or may not be up to speed on the latest technology, particularly when it comes to the increasing exposure and risks. Jen provides personalized and private coaching to help your board members develop their own personal best practices to mitigate risks and protect their privacy with a deep understanding of the role of directors and their fiduciary duty to stakeholders of the company and the public.
Building a Digital Risk Committee
As boards face increasing threats from digital obsolescence to cybersecurity, the need for a board committee to focus on these threats and opportunities has never been more great. Jen has built a “future proof” approach to managing risk through the use of a digital risk committee. As part of this program, Jen helps you shift the governance structure and put in place tools to provide oversight of the c-suite holistically instead of through silos or old-school approaches to reporting.
