Jenna Lyons

Former Executive Director of J. Crew

Jenna Lyons is a style maven and visionary fashion designer serving at the helm of fashion label and retailer J. Crew, which has over three hundred stores nationwide. Jenna first joined the team as an Assistant Designer after graduating from the Parsons School of Design in 1990, at the age of twenty-one.

Jenna grew up in Rancho Palos Verdes in California and had reached the height of six feet tall by age twelve. It wasn’t until college that she really fell in love with fashion when she realized what the right fit could do for her tall frame and personal style. Jenna likes to only wear high heels and fittingly, has an affinity for tailored items.

Rising among the ranks at the company, Jenna has most recently served as J. Crew’s President- Executive Creative Director and before that, Executive Creative Director. She oversees over a hundred designers and directs the look and layout of the company’s popular direct mail catalog, of which there are twenty-four issues made each year.

Along with fellow J. Crew head designer, Todd Snyder, The Daily News named her as among Fashion's Fifty Most Powerful People. The fashion-forward duo has been credited with reviving the faltering brand, maintaining its traditionally preppy style without the formerly associated stuffiness. The pair also widened the reach of the brand through Crewcuts for kids and their wedding line, including bridesmaid and wedding dresses. Michelle Obama has even personally endorsed the brand and frequently appears in public wearing J. Crew designs.

Jenna has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show to discuss her position at J. Crew for an episode featuring dream jobs. She currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband and son.
