A leading voice in women's health, Dr. Jennifer Ashton, a double board-certified OB-GYN and in Obesity Medicine, marries an unparalleled medical background with an accessible ‘girl’s-girl’ attitude. She is the Chief health and medical editor and chief medical correspondent for "ABC News" and "Good Morning America," and also serves as the Chief women's health correspondent for "The Dr. Oz Show." Dr. Ashton's accomplishments also include her stint as co-host of the short-lived ABC television series "The Revolution" and her regular appearances on the daytime program "GMA3: What You Need to Know."
Hailing from a family of 6 physicians and 1 nurse, the wife and mother of two possess a uniquely well-rounded understanding of the human body. When she’s not on screen or penning columns for Cosmopolitan Magazine, she can be found training for triathlons or following her very own Five-Day/Two-Day Eating Plan. Dr. Ashton demonstrates first-hand how to embrace and feel empowered at every stage of womanhood, a passion she carries into her frequent guest speaking and moderating roles at events raising awareness of women's health issues.
Dr. Ashton's award-winning book, "The Body Scoop for Girls," was released in January 2010 and is an approachable guide to teenage health. She also authored "Your Body Beautiful," which calls on her own beauty regimens, eating plans, and fitness routines to offer a comprehensive health and lifestyle guide for women aged 30-50. Ashton also added "Eat This Not That When You’re Expecting," co-authored with Dave Zinczenko, to her repertoire in May 2016. In May 2019, she published her fourth book, "Life After Suicide: Finding Courage, Comfort & Community After Unthinkable Loss," a testament to her dedication to mental wellness. In recognition of her contributions to women's health, she was a recipient of the American Heart Association's 2023 Woman Changing the World Award and a four-time Emmy Award winner.
