Jennifer King

NFL’s First Full-Time Female African American Coach

Jennifer King is the first full-time Black female coach in the National Football League (NFL) history. King's journey in football began on the field, where she showcased her versatility as a player in the Women's Football Alliance, playing for the Carolina Phoenix, New York Sharks, and D.C. Divas as a quarterback, receiver, and defensive back.

King served as a coaching intern for the Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders. Her dedication and commitment to her craft were recognized by the Commanders' head coach, Ron Rivera, who invited King to accompany him in his transition to the Washington Commanders. This relationship led to King making history as the first full-time Black female coach in the NFL when she was hired by the Washington Commanders. In her current role as the assistant running backs coach for the Chicago Bears, King continues to break barriers and inspire others.

King is a graduate of Guilford College, where she played basketball and softball.
