Director of Design at Airbnb

Jenny Arden is Director of Design and the Director of Technology at Airbnb, where she brings new, large-scale initiatives to life. She led the team that supports Airbnb’s host community, and helped grow Airbnb’s home supply to the 4+ million listings it is today.

Before joining Airbnb a little over three years ago, Jenny was the Design Lead for Google’s Self-Driving Car Project (now Waymo). She also worked on YouTube TV, and led design and strategy for Google Mobile Search when the company launched some of their first mobile web experiences.

Jenny received degrees in Graphic Design and Physics from the Rhode Island School of Design and Brown University before attending Harvard Business School. Her experience has extended across many industries while working for companies including IDEO, Razorfish, JPMorgan, and Goldman Sachs.

Don't Just Do Your Job, Designers. Do It Ethically

Jenny Arden, director of transportation at Airbnb, shared an experience she had 11 years ago when she was hired by an auto company to sell car loans to low-income consumers who couldn’t afford the repayments.

“At that time, in the design world, we were just told to do our job,” Arden said. “Now, what I’m really proud of is that we have that seat and are able to say no.”
