Actress, Comedian, Author & Creator of the "Marcel the Shell" Short Films; Known for "Parks & Recreation," "Big Mouth," & "The Secret Life of Pets"

Jenny Slate is an actress, author, and comedian, known for her sharp wit, distinctive voice, and versatile performances across film, television, and animation. Born in Milton, Massachusetts, Slate attended Columbia University, where she co-founded the improv group Fruit Paunch. She gained early recognition as a stand-up comedian and for her work on "Saturday Night Live" during the 2009–2010 season.

Slate's breakthrough came with "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On," a stop-motion short film she co-created and voiced in 2010. The project later expanded into a critically acclaimed feature film in 2022. She also gained widespread acclaim for her lead role in 2014's "Obvious Child," a dramedy that showcased her comedic and dramatic range, earning her the Critics' Choice Award for Best Actress in a Comedy.

In addition to live-action roles in projects like "Parks and Recreation," "Zootopia," "Everything Everywhere All at Once," "I Want You Back," and "It Ends With Us," Slate has built a successful voice-acting career, lending her talents to "Big Mouth," "Bob’s Burgers," and "The Secret Life of Pets" franchise, among others. She is also a published author, having released the 2019 essay collection "Little Weirds" about her struggles with -- and thoughts about -- life and relationships, and 2024's national bestseller "Lifeform," depicting her unique take on the journey into motherhood.
