Retired NFL player, United States Marine, Iraq War Veteran, Life Coach & Professor

Jeremy Staat is a former professional football player who was a 2nd round, 41st pick overall draft selection in 1998 and spent 6 years in the National Football League (NFL) before retiring from the NFL (2003) to join the United States Marine Corps (2005) after the passing of his late friend Pat Tillman. He is a product of the 1996 Arizona State University Football team that went undefeated and were Pac-10 Champions that played for a National Championship against Ohio State in the 1997 Rose Bowl. Staat was also a member of the 1997 team that played in the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas where Staat was named the Most Valuable Defensive Player of the Game.

Staat spent 4 years serving his country in the United States Marine Corps as an infantry machine gunner (0331) and deployed to Haditha, Iraq in 2007.

After being honorably discharged from his Marine Corps service in 2009 Staat returned home to his hometown of Bakersfield, CA and married his wife, Janelle, and the two have two young boys together.

In 2012, through his foundation the Jeremy Staat Foundation he organized a national campaign to bring awareness to the epidemic of Veteran suicide by riding a bicycle 3,468 miles across the United States that started in Bakersfield, California at the Wall of Valor in Bakersfield and ending in Washing D.C. at the Vietnam Memorial Wall.

Staat is currently pursuing his doctoral degree in educational leadership at Liberty University and works as a professor of welding at Bakersfield College. His passion to help enable his students, as a life coach, to succeed by earning their college degrees has been documented by the overwhelming increase of college degrees that have been earned by his students during his teaching career. He has spoken throughout the country about his desire to persevere, regardless of what task is a head of him, and he has delivered his message to thousands of people at schools, churches, Veteran organizations, and other venues.

Staat ties his will to persevere, heartbreaks, and desire to succeed in life to his connection with Christ. He knows that no man makes it to the top on their own and contributes his success to the help and guidance of others that have help him reach his life goals. His goal in life now is to help others see past their failures, disappointments, and heartaches of life and to push forward and become the success they desire to become.
