Jerry Punch

Jerry Punch, M.D. was born August 20, 1953 and is an auto racing and college football commentator on ESPN.

Dr. Punch also does local radio spots in Knoxville.

Dr. Punch worked as an emergency room physician before moving to ESPN in 1984 as a pit reporter for NASCAR races. In 1988, in two separate incidents, he helped with the rescue efforts after the serious wrecks of Rusty Wallace and Don Marmor. Punch has also been ESPN's medical expert for discussion of medical issues which have arisen, which can happen, and has also called play-by-play for college basketball, and has served as a sideline reporter for college football.

Some speculation about his future at Disney's networks came up recently because of the 2007 NASCAR plans by Disney's networks; while he is favorable to some at Disney, others want a younger lead.
