Jess Hong, a New Zealand actress of Chinese heritage, is best known for her role as Jin Cheng in the Netflix series "3 Body Problem," released in 2024. The character, initially written as Chinese, was later revised to reflect Hong's New Zealand background and accent, adding a unique touch to the series. Apart from "3 Body Problem," Hong has had a significant presence in New Zealand television, with roles in "The Brokenwood Mysteries," "Inked," "Creamerie," and the Lucy Lawless-led "My Life Is Murder."

Born and raised in Palmerston North, New Zealand, Hong's journey into the world of drama began at the age of 13 when she started taking drama classes to overcome her shyness and social anxiety. She later graduated from the national drama school, Toi Whakaari, in 2019, marking the start of a promising career in acting.
