Jill Eikenberry

Golden Globe Award-Winning Actress Best Known For Her Role on "LA Law"; Breast Cancer Survivor

Jill Eikenberry is a film, stage, and television actress. She is best known for her role as lawyer Ann Kelsey on the NBC drama "L.A. Law," for which she is a five-time Emmy Award and four-time Golden Globe Award nominee, winning the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama Series in 1989.

She received an Obie Award in 1986 for the Off-Broadway plays "Lemon Sky" and "Life Under Water," and was nominated for a 2011 Drama Desk Award for the Off-Broadway musical "The Kid." Her film appearances include 1980's Hide in Plain Sight, 1981's Arthur, and 1986's The Manhattan Project.

Since "L.A. Law" finished its run in 1994, her film and television appearances have been sporadic. Since then, she's appeared in the 2004 comedy Manna from Heaven and the 2011 rom-com Something Borrowed.

Eikenberry is also a breast cancer survivor, having been first diagnosed back in 1986 around the time "L.A. Law" had just started filming. After speaking to Cynthia Nixon's mother Ann, a breast cancer survivor herself, Eikenberry underwent a lumpectomy and radiation therapy, and the cancer went away. It recurred in 2009, and she had another lumpectomy. Today, Eikenberry continues to raise awareness for the disease, which she believes is important because Eikenberry felt so alone when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer in the 1980s when fewer people talked about it.

She has sung on stage and in films, and in recent years, she and her husband have written a number of songs. They currently reside in New York and the Umbria region of Italy.
