Jill Kintner

Kintner's first-place finish brought her to a total of 1060 points, which is enough of a gap on the rest of the field to guarantee the title regardless of the outcome of the final race next month in Austria.

She attributes her win in part to having a very focused goal and consistency in her riding. "There are so many pieces that have to come together to win a World Cup Title. My bike has felt great from day one, and I knew that minimal mistakes wins races. Brazil was one of the most amazing experiences, I had so much fun and was very relaxed, the riding just came natural."

After her victory, she joined the Brazilian fans glued to their TV's watching the country's World Cup soccer game, "Yeah soccer there is nutz!!! Fans were lighting off fireworks for every shot attempt and foul called their way. I have never seen anything like it". Unfortunately, the team didn't have the same fate as Kintner and lost to France 1-0.

Kintner, who transitioned over to mountain bike racing from BMX racing a few short years ago, won the 4-Cross World Cup Championship in 2005, thus defending her title and making it clear that no other woman in cycling is better than Kintner in this discipline. Her goal now is to take home the World Championship in New Zealand, late August. "The World Cup title shows consistency, but Worlds is really the one that brings the most satisfaction."
