More About Jim Shea . . .

Jim Shea, Jr. is the first American to have won Olympic gold in men’s skeleton and the first to take the World Cup. Skeleton is a high-risk sport in which participants lie face-first on a luge-like sled and go sailing down at bobsled-like run at high speeds.

His is a truly inspirational story. Jimmy has the distinction of being a third generation Olympian--the only American with this honor. His father, Jim Shea, competed in Nordic combined and cross-country skiing in the 1964 Olympics and his grandfather, Jack Shea, won two gold medals in the 1932 Olympics in speed skating. Sadly, Jimmy’s grandfather, Jack, was killed in an automobile accident just 17 days prior to the Salt Lake Games. Jimmy carried a picture of Jack in his helmet as he sped across the finish line to win the gold.

Jimmy's stories about his athletic and Olympic careers are both inspiring and exciting. His winning personality comes across on stage and when he mingles with the audience.
