Jimmy O. Yang is a Hong Kong-born American actor, comedian, and writer best known for his roles in film and television, as well as his stand-up comedy. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Jian-Yang in HBO's hit series “Silicon Valley.” His comedic timing and unique style made him a standout character on the show, which ran from 2014 to 2019.

Yang was born in Hong Kong and moved to the United States with his family at the age of 13, settling in Los Angeles. He later attended the University of California, San Diego, where he earned a degree in economics. However, his passion for comedy and acting led him to pursue a career in entertainment instead. Before breaking into mainstream Hollywood, Yang performed stand-up comedy and appeared in various TV shows like “It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “2 Broke Girls.”

Yang is also known for his role in the 2018 romantic comedy film “Crazy Rich Asians,” where he played the character Bernard Tai. His other notable works include the Netflix comedy special “Good Deal” (2020) and his role as Dr. Chan Kaifang in Netflix’s series “Space Force.” Beyond acting, Yang has made a name for himself as a comedian, performing stand-up across the country and releasing a memoir, “How to American: An Immigrant's Guide to Disappointing Your Parents,” which humorously chronicles his experiences as an immigrant navigating life in America.
