The Margin of Excellence
When we think of a "Margin of Excellence" it usually refers to making a difference in fundraising efforts or increasing profit margins in our business. You will look at it in a whole new way as a measure of the courage it takes to make great decisions. At the margin, at the moment of a critical decision point when the pressure is on, what will you, as a leader, manager, employee, parent, or friend do to be a positive difference-maker? Will you have the COURAGE to make the tough calls at the right moments?

- To be willing to improvise, adapt, and overcome adversity.
Nurture Your Dreams by Nurturing Your Money
As a nation, we are pretty bad at keeping our financial lives in order. 78% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck; 69% of Americans have less than $1,000 in savings; 56% of Americans have less than $10,000 in retirement funds; 45 million people owe $1.6 trillion in student loan debt. Only 29% of Americans report that they are "financially strong" spending, saving, borrowing, and planning in a way that will ensure long-term success. 40% of all US households carry credit card debt, with an average debt of $9,333!

- Pragmatic Passion's Basic Money Rules.
- The practice of delayed gratification. Don't spend what you don't have, on frivolous "stuff."
- The importance of understanding budgeting, credit cards, student loans, identity theft, debt, taxes, wealth management, saving and investing, mortgages, insurance, and retirement planning.
- Create a will, buy the right insurances, keep personal records in a safe place.
- Avoid "get rich quick" schemes and stop buying lottery tickets. Neither really works.
