Joe Biden

Former Vice President of the United States

Joseph "Joe" Biden, Jr. was the 47th Vice President of the United States under the administration of President Barack Obama. Biden is also running for president in the 2020 election.

Biden was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania and lived there for ten years before moving to Delaware. He became an attorney in 1969, and was elected to a county council in 1970. The keynotes by Biden reflect his decades of experience as a politician and leader in the United states of America. Biden's career as a politician began at the early age of 29, when he became one of the youngest people elected to the Senate.

Biden was first elected to the Senate in 1972 and became the sixth-youngest senator in U.S. history. He was re-elected to the Senate six times, was the fourth most senior senator at the time of his resignation, and is the 14th-longest serving Senator in history.

Biden's dedication to his education is rather admirable. Holding an undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware, a Law degree from Syracuse Law School and a Ph.D in education, Biden has been equipped to fulfill the many roles he has occupied throughout his career. Serving as the Senator from Delaware for over 36 years and working as educator in the Washing DC area for two decades, Biden commits his time to improving the lives of Americans at both the local and domestic level.

In 2008, he was elected to be the 47th Vice President under President Barack Obama, representing the Democrats. President Obama and Biden won again in 2012, and served for four more years.

As Vice President, Biden convened sessions of the President’s Cabinet, lead interagency efforts, and worked with Congress in his fight to raise the living standards of middle-class Americans, reduce gun violence, address violence against women, and end cancer as we know it.

President Obama and Biden helped pass and oversee the implementation of the Recovery Act—the biggest economic recovery plan in the history of the nation and the biggest and strongest commitment to clean energy. This act was resulted in less than 1% in waste, abuse or fraud—the most efficient government program in our country’s history.

They also secured the passage of the Affordable Care Act, reduced the number of uninsured Americans by 20 million by the time they left office and banned insurance companies from denying coverage due to pre-existing conditions.

After leaving the White House and returning to Delaware, the Bidens continued their efforts to expand opportunity for every American with the creation of the Biden Foundation, the Biden Cancer Initiative, the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, and the Biden Institute at the University of Delaware.
