John Batiste is a retired U.S. Army Major General, former CEO of a leading distribution company, a Change Agent, and Leadership Consultant. He serves as a faculty member at the Thayer Leader Development Group at West Point, and the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester. He is also a member of the Rochester Business Alliance and the Rochester Professional Consultants Network.
John served his country for over three decades in various military leadership roles before deciding to bring his high-caliber leadership style and values to the corporate world. John is an expert in the field of Change Management, and has made it his mission to develop personnel into effective leaders and self-starters.
With his friend and colleague, Robert W. Mixon, Jr. he co-authored the best-selling book, Cows in the Living Room: Developing an Effective Strategic Plan and Sustaining It.
While in the military, John served his country honorably and helped to oversee operations in Kosovo, Iraq, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Saudi Arabia. John's final assignment was as the commanding officer of the 1st Infantry Division, from 2002 to 2005. This unit included 22,000 soldiers from active and reserve component units from throughout the United States.
As the president and CEO of Klein Steel Service, John put an emphasis on worker safety and vastly reduced workplace accidents. Under his leadership, the company was honored with a number of regional and national awards, including being named one of the "Best Plants in North America" by IndustryWeek in 2011. He continues to provide his leadership expertise as a member of the Rochester Business Alliance and Rochester Professional Consultants Network.
John knows what it takes to turn a company around. He knows what it takes to build companies from the ground up. He knows how to win battles and how to win wars. Batiste is inspiring audiences, motivating teams, building better leaders, and creating cultures of excellence.
