John Branch is a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer and journalist who currently works at the New York Times. In 2013, he won the Pulitzer Prize in Feature Writing for "Snow Fall: The Avalanche at Tunnel Creek," a multimedia narrative on a deadly avalanche in Washington State.
Branch was a finalist for the 2011 Pulitzer Prize "Punched Out", his series about the death of ice hockey player Derek Boogaard. He is the author of the biography Boy on Ice: The Life and Death of Derek Boogaard. The book won the 2015 PEN/ESPN Award for Literary Sports Writing.
