John currently serves as VP for WeVideo, responsible for the product experience and working with partners and key influencers. Previously to WeVideo, John worked as a consultant for mediaSHERPA, which focused on transmedia production, products and technology for companies such as Disney, Popbox/Syabas, The A&R Channel, and Digital Artists. Prior to that, John worked full time for Yahoo!, Microsoft and Scientific Atlanta where he held senior positions in production and content distribution, product management and evangelist roles. His experience has taken him across the spectrum of transmedia from Set Top boxes, cable modems and distribution systems to fully integrated home installations and the complexities of developing and producing interactive media for a variety of platforms.

Canning was educated at Georgia Institute of Technology, receiving a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an M.S. in Information, Design and Technology.
