Gynecologic Oncologist

John Farley, MD, COL(ret), is a board certified gynecologic oncologist in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. He holds an appointment as Professor at the University of Arizona Cancer Center, Phoenix Branch. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy, he went on to earn his medical degree from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Farley completed both his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and his fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He currently serves as a staff physician in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Interdisciplinary Oncology at University of Arizona Cancer Center Phoenix Branch.

For the past 30 years, he has been actively involved in caring for women with gynecologic cancers on a daily basis and investigating racial disparities in gynecologic cancer. He has been an active participant in an international non-profit research cooperative group supported by the National Cancer Institute with the purpose of promoting excellence in the quality and integrity of clinical and basic scientific research in the field of Gynecologic malignancies. Dr. Farley has developed and executed numerous multi-institutional clinical trials. He is involved in racial disparities research, and also through the Gynecologic Oncology Group, has been intimately involved in the evaluation and therapy development of rare ovarian tumors.
