John Mabry

Actor, Amputee, Addiction & Mental Health Advocate

Despite a master’s degree in counseling, an invention to his name and multiple public-speaking awards, John experienced more loss than most. His charmed life took him from a private collegiate education in Texas to acting on major productions including “NCIS”, “ER”, and “Superbad”, being featured in People Magazine, USA Today and Access Hollywood within months of moving to Hollywood.

He lost a friend and had a leg painfully amputated in a horrifying car accident – an event that began his downward spiral into a decade-long battle with PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance use disorder with multiple stints in rehab. Things got significantly worse after he found his brother dead from a drug overdose in his Beverly Hills home.

Today, John serves as an advocate for addiction recovery, mental health and wellness with his primary focus of educating audiences on the REAL cause of addiction...and it's not what you think, as well as how to talk about addiction with a loved one.
