John Watson is chairman of the board and CEO of Chevron Corporation. Previously, he was Chevron's vice chairman, overseeing business development, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning and corporate compliance, among other duties. Watson joined Chevron in 1980 as a financial analyst and has held numerous leadership positions, including executive vice president for strategy and development, president of Chevron International Exploration and Production, chief financial officer, corporate vice president of strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions and president of Chevron Canada Ltd. He serves on the board of the American Petroleum Institute and is a member of the National Petroleum Council, the Business Council, the Business Roundtable, the J.P. Morgan International Council, the American Society of Corporate Executives and the University of California Davis chancellor's board of advisors. Watson holds a bachelor's degree in agricultural economics from UC Davis and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
