Jon Lajoie is a Canadian comedian, actor, rapper, singer, musician, and Internet celebrity from Montreal, Quebec. He gained fame mostly from his eponymous YouTube channel, posting comedic original songs (often as rapper characters, such as "MC Vagina" and "Everyday Normal Guy") and comedy skits. Lajoie is also known for his role as "Taco MacArthur" on the FX comedy series The League.
Jon Lajoie first became popular through the music video "Everyday Normal Guy", in which he, in ironic contrast to typical rap songs, sings about his bland, run-of-the-mill daily activities and his peaceful nature. Two of his music videos have developed into three-part series: "Everyday Normal Guy" was followed by "Everyday Normal Guy 2" and "Everyday Normal Crew", with the "WTF Collective" video supposedly being presented by "Normal Guy Productions." His videos have received millions of views on several websites.
Lajoie's songs are often parodies of everyday things, such as stay-at-home dads, and doing chores on Sunday afternoons. His commercial parodies advertise undesirable products like "pedophile beards" and "rapist glasses" (other products advertised included "serial killer vans," a "there's gotta be something wrong with that guy hat", and pencil crayons) or mundane human behavior such as "breathing".
Lajoie's role as a stoned and unemployed musician in the FX Network TV show The League lasted for 7 seasons, from 2009 to 2015. Created by the husband-and-wife duo of Jeff Schaffer (Curb Your Enthusiasm) and Jackie Marcus Schaffer, the show revolved around six friends who love fantasy football and will do anything to win the league while dealing with other problems. The ensemble cast members included Mark Duplass, Steve Rannazzisi, Nick Kroll, Katie Aselton, and Paul Scheer.
On November 7, 2009, Lajoie filmed an episode of Comedy Central Presents. It premiered on March 5, 2010. The special featured the world premiere of the video for his song "Pop Song".
Lajoie has also expanded his career as a folk music artist under the moniker "Wolfie's Just Fine." His first album, I Remembered, But Then I Forgot was released in 2016, followed by the album Perfection, Nevada in 2018.
Jon Lajoie was raised in Montreal, Quebec and he graduated from Dawson College's theater program in 2001.
