Jonathan Kaplan was born in Atlanta, GA but attended business school at UT-Austin, where he studied Information Systems. After several years in corporate sales he quit his job with the aim of becoming an investor. In early 2016 he split his life savings between an obscure cryptocurrency called Bitcoin and betting on Donald Trump to win the election, and then reinvested his winnings into the burgeoning crypto space shortly before the industry grew an order of magnitude (and then some) in 2017. Due to overwhelming demand from friends and family he created Numeris Capital, a hedge fund focused entirely on Bitcoin and crypto assets. He continues to run the fund from Austin, where he is also active in the local UT community as well as his undergraduate fraternity, Sigma Chi.
