Jordan Belfort

The Real Wolf of Wall Street

Jordan Ross Belfort is an American author, motivational speaker, and former stockbroker. He is best known for being the inspiration for 2013 film "The Wolf of Wall Street".

In the 1990s, Jordan Belfort built one of the most dynamic and successful sales organizations in Wall Street history, earning over $50 million a year in personal income.

As the owner and founder of brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont, Belfort employed over 1,000 stockbrokers and raised over $1 billion to start up more than 30 million-dollar companies from scratch. Taking over many of them when they ran into trouble, he then turned them around and sold them for massive sums of money.

Along the way, Belfort succumbed to some of the traps of the high-flying lifestyle, going through a spectacular - and well-publicized - fall from grace. His work with Stratton Oakmont - a "boiler room" and inspiration for the film "The Wolf of Wall Street" - eventually cost him 22 months in jail for securities fraud and money laundering. Taking invaluable lessons from the mistakes he made and the prices he paid, he has reemerged as a globally recognized potent force behind extraordinary business success.

Belfort has acted as a consultant to more than 50 public companies and has been written about in virtually every major newspaper and magazine in the world, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, The London Times, The Herald Tribune, Le Monde, Corriere della Serra, Forbes, Business Week, Paris Match, and Rolling Stone.

Belfort's two international best-selling memoirs, "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "Catching the Wolf of Wall Street", have been published in over 40 countries and translated into 18 languages. His life story is was turned into an Academy Award-nominated film directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
